Participation Benefits

The Cosplay Competition is an evening event only, on Friday, October 18th. All Cosplay entrants are required to join the Lismore Show Community Parade. It’s at 6 pm on Friday night, Oct 18, and your performance will be counted in the judging. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your incredible costumes to the entire Lismore community and be a part of an unforgettable event – THE inaugural pop culture festival of Lismore!

Judging will take place after the Community Parade, at 7pm, in the PopZone Pavilion.

Each Cosplay entrant receives a free pass to the Show for Friday night, 4pm til close! If a cosplay entrant is aged 17 or under, one adult pass will also be provided

All participants will receive a 'Cosplay Spirit Award' Certificate.

Registration

Registration is essential. Please register as soon as you can, but no later than Saturday, October 5. Note: You do not need to have a costume ready in order to register!

NB: Entrants aged 16 or under must have signed permission of their parent/guardian on the Registration Form.

Registration Requirements

Please register as soon as possible, but no later than Saturday, October 12.

Your costume doesn’t have to be finished in order to register, but your spot in the competition must be secured by October 5.

Cosplay Judging

Judges will be noting your participation performance in the Community Parade and the extent of creativity that's gone into your costume.
Final judging will take place after the Community Parade on the Cosplay Stage in the PopZone Pavilion at 7pm. All participants should proceed to the PopZone Pavilion straight after the Community Parade.
The Winners and Highly Commended will then be announced and awarded. All participants will be presented with a 'Cosplay Spirit Award' Certificate.

Judging Criteria

Our judges will evaluate entries based on the following:

Community Parade Participation: Being an active part of the Community Parade on Friday, October 18th is essential.
Creativity, Craftsmanship, and Visual Impact: We’re looking for well-crafted costumes that make a strong impression.

Parade Day Details – Friday, October 18th

Please arrive at the Showground by no later than 5:15pm, earlier if you wish to get changed into your costume at the Show. Enter via either of the two gates in Alexandra Parade. Our Cosplay Ambassador will meet you there and guide you into position for the Parade. A dedicated, secure cloak room will be available for you to store your street clothes, etc. If you prefer to arrive at the Showground in street clothes and change into your costume there, you may use this secure cloak room, but allow plenty of time! All participants must be present in the Parade line-up by no later than 5.30pm.

THE RULES (Terms & Conditions)

We’re excited to have you join us in creating unforgettable memories at the inaugural PopZone@Lismore Show. To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone, please take a moment to read the following guidelines.

Store-bought costumes are not permitted. Costumes must be largely crafted and created. This can include re-purposing items purchased from Op Shops.
Store-bought accessories such as wigs, shoes, hair accessories and jewellery are permitted.
All costumes must be modest and in good taste – this is a family event (no theatrical gore or blood please).
Costumes must not include any profanity, slander, swearing or any language/comments that could be deemed inappropriate; this includes political or religious statements.
If wings are part of the costume, please make them detachable.

Weapons Policy

Replica weapons are not permitted unless very obviously a toy. If you are considering including a toy weapon of any kind in your cosplay costume, please contact us for permission first: popzone@lismoreshow.com.au
Laser pointers are not permitted.
Attendees who purchase imitation or replica weapons/props at the Show, such as metal movie/tv swords, knives, sabres and staffs that do not comply to our general props policy must not remove items from their original packaging while at the Show.

Sharing to Social Media

We would love to share some of the entries. We take the privacy of people seriously and we will not tag any artists in social media posts.

Artists will only be mentioned by the first name or creative name, and age, in both the social media posts and the exhibition. Share your posts using #popzonelismore
